Close Call

Our basement flooded.  Luckily, everything I am taking to the con was upstairs.

Wednesday Morning Logistics

I will be picking Bruce up about 7:00 AM.

We will swing by and get Matt F at around 7:30 AM.

We will then head to Dave's. David should meet us at Dave's house at 8:00 AM.

18 Maplefield
Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069

We will do the final pack on the cars and head out. If we want to stop for fast food breakfast we can.

Car game of PFS.

Steak N Shake for lunch.

Arrive in Indy.

Who Owes Whom Money??

Chris owes us all money!  W00t!  Chris owes $210 for the hotel... which means (INSERT MATH HERE) that he owes the rest of us 42 dollars.  (Each?  OF COURSE, EACH!)

BRUCE owes ME 36 dolla (6 event tickets)
CHRIS owes ME 36 dolla (6 event tickets)

BRUCE, DAVE, and MATT owe KEITH for gas money down.  UNKNOWN person(s) will owe DAVID and/or KEITH for gas on the way up.

Updated Schedule

Final schedule for me (and by default Chris).  I know David wanted to play Bonekeep but I dont have a hint as to his itinerary.  Chime in if you other mooks are playing the same events.  We can do another spreadsheet!  *nerdgasm*

Thursday 8am, Horn of Aroden: Dave, Chis
Thursday 7pm, The Paths We Choose: Bruce, Dave, Chris, David
Friday 8am, The Merchant's Wake: Matt F.
Friday 1pm, Assault on the Wound: Bruce, Dave, Chris, Matt F.
Friday 7pm, Legacy of the Stone Lords: Bruce, Dave, Chris
Saturday 8am, Trial by Machine: Matt F.
Saturday 8am, Assault on the Wound: Keith
Saturday 1pm, Weapon in the Rift: Bruce, Dave, Chris, Matt F.
Saturday 7pm, Bonekeep 3: Bruce, Keith, Dave, David.  I had a brainfart and ordered a ticket for Keith for some reason, which would be available for Chris, if he decides he wants to play another pregen.  If I was him I might be tired of pregens by then, but who knows.
Sunday 9am, Vengeance at Sundered Crag: Bruce, Dave, Chris, Keith
Sunday 9am, The Silver Mount Collection: Matt F.

Hotel Issues - We are not staying where we thought we were

The eagle-eyed Matt F, pointed out that our hotel is 13 miles from the convention center. It is not in fact the one within walking distance. It sucks but we could have worse problems.

This will mean that we will need to plan our convention logistics a little tighter. I think that most of us have late games so heading back to the hotel will not be too bad. Some of us have early games which could work out poorly for those expecting to sleeep in. That will either mean getting up an going early or having to catch a cab.

I was planning to be at the convention for an 8:00 am game on Friday and a 9:00 game on Sunday. I can survive with getting to the convention center by 8:00 each day. Many of us will be at the con until 12:00 AM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We just may not all be in the same place. I likely have plans Sunday after the con for a while with the Hex folks. I could likely let you guys take the car back to the hotel but then someone would need to come and get me when I am done. We will also have 2 cars but David's car is not as big as mine.

Is everyone's game scheduled up to date in the Gen Con system?

Two Days!

Less than 48 hours boyz.  Woo Hoo.

So are we stopping at Steak and Shake on the way down there?

Or are we doing something else?

the Drive-down adventure

The desert sands of Osirion conceal an untold number of ruins and tombs, lost to memory over the millennia-long span of the nation’s history. Even today, the fickle winds of sandstorms can reveal structures hitherto unknown for thousands of years, and seemingly untouched by time. Such unplundered tombs can be an archaeological windfall, but would-be explorers should exercise caution, for the pharaohs of old jealously guarded their possessions against intruders with traps, unliving guardians, and potent curses.
—Modern Osirionology: An Introduction, published in Absalom, 4714 ar

Communication from the Pathfinder Guild :
In the depths of the Osirian desert, a sandstorm has recently uncovered a mighty pyramid that was buried beneath the sand for ages. Lost for centuries, the pyramid has not yet revealed its secrets, but one crumbling papyrus scroll found in the Great Library of Tephu contains references to the tomb of an ancient
Osirian king known only as the Pharaoh of Sphinxes. Word of the pyramid’s discovery has spread far and fast. Archaeologists, explorers, and tomb robbers from across the Inner Sea are gathering in Osirion’s taverns and inns to plan expeditions into the desert, each vying to be the first to plunder the tomb’s treasures.

We would like you & your team to be the 1st in, and discover it's secrets.

PFS Game(s) on Wednesday Night

Just want to firm up plans for what we are planning to play on Wednesday night once we hit the hotel.

I expect that those of us driving will arrive early afternoon and will check in as soon as the hotel will let us.

Chris - When is your flight arriving? How are you getting to the hotel?

We will also plan to go grocery and liquor shopping. Then the plan is to go get tamales. Depending on time we will eat then or later.

As far as PFS games go. I will bring #5-08 The Confirmation, Master of the Fallen Fortress and We Be Goblins!. I expect that we can get through one or two for sure. It is possible that we can get through a 3rd. All are replayable for credit.

Who plans to play? I expect Chris, Bruce, Dave and David. Matt F are you planning to hang and play?

Two Weeks!!!

I will be running my first official Ubiquity game two weeks from now.

Car Game - Risen from the Sands

What is everyone planning to play for when Bruce runs Risen from the Sands in the car? It is a tier 2-4 adventure.

I have Maltok (ranger 4) or Pinky (summoner 3)
Dave has Fergus (cleric 3) or Ebo (sorcerer 3)
Matt F has Shamazil the Crazed (wizard 4) or Ronan (magus 2)
David has Natalia (druid 4) or Al-Ma-Resh (arcanist 3)

I suppose that someone could also play a level 4 pregen if we need to round out the party differently.

Planned PFS Characters

I have the characters I prefer to play in italics.  If I have others listed, I could be talked in to playing another eligible character.

Wednesday night - Is it possible to get one or even 2 PFS scenarios done?  We need to power-level Chris.

Thursday morning, The Horn of Aroden (1-5): Arcanist 1, Barbarian 1, Sorcerer 3, Cleric 3, Fighter/Ranger 3/2
I'm thinking we'll go low with that to accommodate Chris, who I think is playing a newbie cleric.  I'd prefer to play the Arcanist; Effluvia Toodlenoggins.
Thursday evening, The Paths We Choose (3-7): Sorcerer 3, Cleric 3, Fighter/Ranger 3/2
Barring some kind of drug-infused all night gaming session, Chris will only be 2nd level and he'll have to play a pregen.  I'd prefer to play Ebo, sorcerer with the Seeker archetype.

Friday afternoon, Assault on the Wound (3-7): Sorcerer 3, Cleric 3, Fighter/Ranger 3/2
Another pregen session for Chris.  Again, I'd prefer to play Ebo.
Friday evening, Legacy of the Stone Lords (1-11):  Summoner 11
Chris has the option of taking his real live character to a different table.  I would if I were him.  Of course all levels available but I will be playing Scrawny muthafuckin Jax, who hasnt seen action since last GenCon.

Saturday Afternoon, Weapon in the Rift (5-9): Fighter/Ranger 3/2, Oracle 8, Cavalier 8, Fighter/Bard/Dragon Disciple 3/2/4
I'd prefer to play Sven for this, but I dont mind playing Li Hua if we need healz
Saturday Evening, Bonekeep 3 (5-9): Fighter/Bard/Dragon Disciple 3/2/4
I'll be playing Sven for this.  He survived the first 2 Bonekeeps.

Sunday morning, Vengeance at Sundered Crag (7-11):  Summoner 11
Another chance to play my highest level character, woot!

Got my badge and tickets today!

I got my badge and tickets today. (I have David's tickets too.)

They are coming priority mail this year and require a signature. You have been warned (reminded)!

In other related news, I got a soft-sided car top carrier to go on my truck. It works great for duffle bags and other such stuff. It should help with space in the vehicle.

We leave in 32 days!

Current Wish List

I am currently buying tickets for PFS events for Chris and Bruce that I am going to (except for Bruce on Thursday morning).  Im buying Chris tickets for all of the PFS Im trying to get.  He will either play a pregen or take his lowbie cleric to a lowbie table.  I have a lot of 3-7 events targeted, so he may be in better shape than we think.

YOU OTHER MOOKS.  Want me to get you tickets for any of the events I am attending?  Bruce and Chris are the only ones I have on my wish list.

Car from work is a no go

I did not get a vehicle from work. Matt F scored one but could not keep it as he already had a car for the quarter.

I could have gotten it from him but it would have had to be picked up at the Ren Cen on Wednesday morning and it seemed more hassle than it was worth. It seemed like it would add another hour to our time and I did not want to screw with the logistics.

At this point it looks like we will need to take two vehicles. I can take myself plus 3 more in comfort. If we had to we could add a 4th but it would be a snug fit.

Maybe we will have better luck next year.

Driving there

This Thursday, I am going to try to reserve a vehicle from work for driving to Gen Con. I am going to try to get something like an Acadia, Yukon, Tahoe, Traverse, Enclave or an Escalade. They all seat 7 or 8 and should have plenty of room for our stuff. If I can snag one, the Michigan contingent could all ride together.

The only drawback, which is small, is that I would have to pick it up on Wednesday morning. The office opens at 7:00 AM. That means we will not likely hit the road until around 8:00 or 8:30. I was thinking I could swing by and get Bruce (Rochester Hills) first, go get the car (Warren) and then swing by to get Matt F (Berkley), then Dave (Pleasant Ridge) and lastly David (Oak Park). Or it might make sense to do David, Dave and then Matt F. Long story short, I can pick you up and there are no worries about leaving cars anywhere other than your house.

If I cannot get a larger vehicle, we will need one more driver to avoid packing everyone into my Terrain.

Projected GenCon Events for Dave

Here is my target schedule for maximum nerdy enjoyment.  Obviously this battle plan will change after it meets the enemy, or if we cant find any strippers with espresso beans.

PFS home game at Gen Con

What PFS do we want to plan to run Wednesday so that Chris can get his feet wet with PFS?

I can always run #5-08 - The Confirmation (Bruce, Dave and David have played) as it it meant to be replayable with any first level character. For that matter I could also run First Steps part 1 (Bruce, David and Matt F have played) or Master of the Fallen Fortress (Bruce, Dave, David and Matt F have played). They all have the same deal and are scenario length.

If Bruce, Dave, David and Matt F want to play something new, we will need to reserve one (or more) of the few tier 1-5 scenarios collectively we have available.

Right now that leaves:

#2-17 - Shades of Ice - Part II: Exiles of Winter
#2-19 - Shades of Ice - Part III: Keep of the Huskarl King

#5-11 - Library of the Lion (Dave was slated to run this)
#5-19 - The Horn of Aroden
#5-21 - The Merchant's Wake
#5-22 - Scars of the Third Crusade

Bruce could run any of these with me using a GM star replay:

#3-05 - Tide of Twilight
#5-01 - The Glass River Rescue

We also have the option of playing something higher tier and letting Chris play a pregen to earn some XP, PP and gold to his brand new character. We have lots of tier 5-9 and tier 7-11. In either case we would be looking at a 7th level pregen.

I just want to make sure that we do not run something in our home game prior to Gen Con which will meet our needs at the convention. I am also concerned about running anything from #5-19 on as they will likely be offered in slots at the show. (I guess we will see later today.)

What we can play on Sunday will be dependant on what characters folks have to play and their level.

Gaming at the Hotel/Car

Do we want to plan any RPG games to play at the hotel? If so, should I earmark a PFS adventure or two for just that purpose? I expect that it would need to be a low tier adventure to accomodate everyone. If folks want to do something other than PFS, I would like to know so that I can be prepared and bring along the proper stuff. I will obviously have my Pathfinder and my HEX stuff but anything other than that will require more planning.

My schedule only reliably allows for gaming on Wednesday after we settle in and likely in the evening on Sunday. Assuming there is a post-con get together with the HEX/Ubiquity folks I would like to attend that. I would guess I would be free by 7:00 or so.

I assume that Bruce will want to run something on the car ride down. This year's Free RPG Day adveture, Risen from the Sands will be out in May. It is meant for 3rd level characters. Assuming it is sactiond for PFS credit, I would expect it to be a tier 2-4 adventure.
